When our team removes a tree or hedge, we effectively grind down and grind out the remaining roots and stump below the ground level. We do this using either our small access stump grinder or our tracked stump grinder, which can remove any size stump.
The grinder we use for stump removal has tough cutting teeth, which cut the stump into smaller, manageable pieces. As the grinder sweeps the flywheel side to side, the teeth gradually grind the stump down to below ground level. Standard industry practice is to grind only the main stump structure and immediate lateral roots, and only to 25-30cm deep.
We use stump fragments, sometimes known as grindings, to backfill the hole the stump once occupied. Filling in this hole with the grindings helps prevent accidents and adds nutrients to the surrounding soil. These grindings will initially create a slight mound but soon flatten over time.
After the grinding and filling-in process is completed, our team of tree surgeons will leave the site cleared of all green waste, the ground as flat as possible, and the scene immaculate.
